The Meetings Industry AssociationThe MIA was founded in 1990 and is the professional trade organization for the conference industry in the UK & Ireland. Its members come from all sectors of the industry including hotels (both groups and privately owned), conference centres, venue finding agencies and conference service suppliers. The aim is to drive higher professional standards in the industry. They introduced the MIA Meetings Magna Carta which sets out business practises in 5 areas:
Membership of the MIA is conditional on compliance with abiding by the spirit of the Magna Carta and indeed Kinwardstone Conferencing complies with the letter of the sections relevant to its business. A recent notable coup has been the adoption of these Conference Terms & Conditions by the Hilton Group. Venues can show an extra commitment to the industry and its clients by gaining Hospitality Assured Meetings accreditation - and DeVere hotels have taken up this challenge with most, if not all, of their venues having gained it.
